Position Description:



This is a Senior Systems Engineer role within the UHO IT function.  Participates in the design and support of all infrastructure products and services within a diverse global environment.  Multi-site data center administration and architecture experience will be a key element in insuring success within this position.  Hands on ability to assist in administration of complex LAN/WAN networks and a variety of physical and virtual, web, database, and Wintel environments is required. 


 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead implementation and support of server infrastructures; ensure integrity and performance of environment including performance tuning, maintenance and backups
  • Manage SAN and storage environments to ensure appropriate business requirements and availability are achieved
  • Assist in architecture and support of global networks.  Participate as backup to network engineering staff as required.
  • Serve as primary IT coordinator for small to medium-size infrastructure projects.
  • Assists in architecture and infrastructure roadmap and project planning.
  • Assess and interprets project and business needs and translates into technical requirements
  • Identifies solutions to a variety of non-standard requests and problems
  • Works with minimal guidance; serves as local team leader, advisor and back up to Infrastructure Services Manager

Requirements

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of IT infrastructure design, implementation and support experience
  • Knowledge and experience with VMWare solutions
  • Experience and knowledge of best practice security design and implementation
  • Experience with network and server problem resolution
  • Prior Vendor Management experience
  • Bachelor's Degree OR High School Diploma/GED plus 5 years of equivalent experience

Assets:


  • Experience supporting a 24X7 multi-site infrastructure
  • Prior experience in a Team leadership role
  • Experience working with off-shore teams in a matrixed support environment
  • MCSE, CCNA, advanced certifications preferred
  • Exposure to ITIL workflow and management philosophies; ITIL v3 Foundation certification preferred
  • Previous Healthcare industry experience a plus
