The Underwriting Coordinator  will serves as a liaison for those that have completed an application to begin or renew group or individual insurance policies. They are responsible for reviewing the application for completion and reaching out to the applicant or group if additional information is needed.  The primary responsibility of this position is assigning new business to underwriters. 

This position requires some basic decision-making, good follow-through skills, and an ability to prioritize tasks. There is some physical requirement as this person will be returning paperfiles to shelves, including above the head or near the ground. Some of the files are bulky and heavy. An understanding of databases and queries is desireable. This person works on a small 4-person team; cooperation and mutual support are important.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate great depth of knowledge/skills in own function
  • Act as a technical resource to others within own function.
  • Proactively identifies solutions to non-standard requests.
  • Solves moderately complex problems independently.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Plans, organize and complete work to meet established business objectives.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Experience working in an Admin/Office environment.
  • The ability to create and edit correspondence in Microsoft Word.
  • The ability to understand queries and what they are in Microsoft Access.
  • The ability to create and edit spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel
