They will utilize underwriting criteria and policies to provide proper rating methodologies. They will also build and maintain models to assist in the economic analysis of market alternatives. The Senior Underwriting Consultant is responsible for the evaluation and recommend alternative pricing options and plan design changes based on economic analysis and trends.

 
The position will be responsible for all underwriting functions in support of an existing block of National Accounts medical customers. The candidate should have experience in underwriting large (>10k members) medical accounts, mostly ASO. The candidate may also be required to underwrite other products (dental, vision, CIPP / APP) on both a FI and ASO basis. The candidate will also support various projects across the entire National Accounts book of business. Positions in this function are responsible for assessing and pricing the financial risk associated with group or individual prospective and renewing cases.
Primary Responsibilities:

Prepare financial modeling for reserve calculation, budget calculation, and other ongoing reviews that directly aligns with client strategies
Validate renewals and request for proposals for accuracy including utilization and experience reporting
Conduct competitive analysis of all coverage lines and present financial and contractual findings

Requirements

Required Qualifications:


Bachelor's Degree required (Math, Finance, Business preferred)
5+ years of experience in healthcare underwriting for any variety of products: PPO, HMO, self-funded, ASO / fully - insured, group or individual
5+ years of experience with Risk Management
Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing
Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
