CLS Band Generic Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes specialized knowledge and skill in the Revenue Management area to support team and/or department business objectives. Generally works under limited supervision, but within established guidelines, producing and analyzing more complex business information to assist in the decision making process.

Specific Job Summary

This position focuses on hotel performance across a number of key metrics such as, but not limited to, booking pace by segment and tier, segmentation trends and implication for the specified brands/management companies/team Leaders in Global Revenue Management Remote Solutions (RMRS). The Manager provides in-depth analysis on factors impacting performance, leads the effort to define new business logic as the environment changes by coordinating feedback across various levels of the organization and plays a key role in discipline initiatives by participating in the process development, testing, sharing learnings/insights and identifying possible implications to the RMRS Leadership Team. This role provides business context for the data requested of the group, prioritizes work flow during times of competing demands and develops exception reporting to identify and highlight hotels requiring additional support. This resource works collaboratively with the RMRS Leaders to support execution of any revenue management programs and the progress against these. Comprehensive knowledge of the selling, pricing and inventory processes and strategies for RMRS hotels is critical.

Specific Expected Contributions
  • Monitor all RMRS hotels’ performance
  • Identify underlying causes of good/bad performers and develop plans to address
  • Develop standards for managing inventory, executing pricing and sales strategies for RMRS hotels
  • Work closely with Global Revenue Management Analysis and Top Line team.
  • Works closely with all parts of the Americas Reporting and Analysis Team
  • Works in collaboration with RMRS Leadership Team
  • Strong focus on all RMRS hotels – all brands
  • Develop tools to identify revenue opportunities and analyze performance for transient including, but not limited to, mix segmentation, inventory and pricing opportunities
  • Develop measurement techniques to evaluate the effectiveness of property/brand pricing and major pricing initiatives.
  • Monitor, evaluate and contribute to the enhancement of the effectiveness of the revenue management systems and inventory management efforts
  • Work closely with operations research and systems personnel in creating and developing decision support systems that will lead to enhanced revenues.
  • Respond to requests from Revenue Management stakeholders and other Sales and Marketing stakeholders for data and analysis
  • Special projects, including ad hoc requests for information, analysis and recommendations relative to Revenue Management initiatives
  • Able to perform audits on hotel’s inventory and couple findings with specific analysis around programs and promotions
  • Bring requirements for system enhancement to better support and enable effective Revenue Management for all RMRS hotels.

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally a professional position with specific knowledge and experience in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Human Resources, Information Resources) and associate management. College degree and/or relevant experience required.

  • Strong relationship management, strategic planning, communication, and analytical skills
  • Excellent demonstrated analytical ability, with experience in solving “real-life” business problems
  • Good organizational and time management skills and proven ability to handle multi-task assignments
  • Possesses excellent knowledge of Marriott’s systems (MARSHA, MRDW, One Yield, MarRFP, Fosse)
  • Brand knowledge all Marriott Brands and affiliations
  • Strong data analysis skills, including querying and manipulation of large quantities of data using applications such as SAS, Tableau, Access and Excel (pivot tables, modeling, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis, quantitative analysis and statistical tools
  • Excellent project management skills, with ability to independently manage multiple projects
  • Ability to communicate deadlines and project requirements clearly and concisely
  • Ability to interface with operations research and systems professionals in order to develop/refine decision support systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, as well as public speaking
  • Ability to work both as a team member and a team leader to achieve results in a teamwork environment
  • Ability to take large volumes of complex information and present it to Senior Management in a clear, concise and complete manner which facilitates executive decision making.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s preferred in a quantitative discipline (finance, operations research, economics, mathematics, statistics, etc.).
  • MBA, advanced degree in a quantitative discipline desired, or three-plus years of directly related work experience.
  • Revenue Management experience required
