Overview

The Chief Product Officer holds a key leadership position on the CIS Executive team at the Center for Internet Security. The Chief Product Officer is responsible for developing and managing a CIS wide product portfolio consisting of CIS-developed and third party integrated software products and services. The CPO must have a deep understanding of product development methodologies, emerging technologies, industry trends, agile practices, UX/UI design principles, and strong technical insight to make informed decisions. The CPO will analyze market data, conduct financial evaluations, and have a keen sense of market dynamics to make data-driven decisions. The CPO must be an effective leader capable of inspiring and motivating teams, setting a clear vision, fostering collaboration, and empowering team members to achieve their full potential.

Salary Range: $260,000 - $320,000 + incentive bonus

What You'll Do
  • Lead development and evolution of a CIS wide product portfolio that harmonizes CIS products and services and accomplishes a balance between mission accomplishment and revenue growth
  • Responsible for overseeing the development, tracking, and execution of comprehensive near and long-term product strategies and roadmaps aligned with the CIS vision, mission, and strategic business objectives
  • Responsible for developing, justifying, and maintaining business cases and managing approved budgets for portfolio of products and individual products as appropriate
  • Oversee the product management team across CIS, ensuring consistent methodologies, processes, and product artifacts. Mentor product managers and product owners to raise their level of capability and performance
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and prioritization to execution and release ensuring timely and high-quality product delivery
  • Identify market opportunities, assess risks, and make informed decisions regarding product investments and resource allocation
  • Continuously evaluate evolving technologies, market conditions, and customer feedback to inform strategic direction of products and services
  • Maintain a strong focus on product quality and performance, while ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key customers, stakeholders and partners, gathering feedback to drive product improvements and customer satisfaction
  • Assist in the building and leading high-performing product teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and support
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track product performance, customer satisfaction, and market success
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement to drive product excellence
  • Lead design and user interface efforts ensuring products are intuitive and provide a seamless user journey, resulting in customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Ensure close collaboration and coordination with various departments, including marketing, sales, security best practices, and operations to ensure effective communication, alignment, and coordination
  • Report on product performance to internal and external stakeholders, including CIS senior management and the CIS Board of Directors
  • Develop decision making criteria for product investments
  • Manage complex product and program budgets
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (computer, software, or other engineering discipline) from an accredited college or university
  • 10+ years' experience in a senior product management leadership role in a technology-related field
  • 10+ years' experience in Product Engineering
  • Strong experience in product management, software development, and agile practices
  • Experience leading and managing in both direct-line and heavily matrixed organizations
  • Experience in strategic planning, risk management, and change management
  • Experience developing processes and procedures to drive product management maturity
  • Experience developing and managing complex P&L's, developing business cases, pricing models, managing budgets and demonstrated strong financial acumen
  • Significant client-facing experience and excellent communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • The position is open to U.S. citizens and requires a favorably adjudicated DHS Fitness Review for Public Trust Positions**
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

It's a Plus if You Have:

  • Advanced degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field
  • Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) and/or Cloud Service Provider (CSP) experience
  • Strong presentation capabilities
  • Strong working knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics using business management and intelligence software (e.g. CRM, BI tools)

*Additional years of relevant experience or a combination of an Associate's degree or equivalent and relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree.
