Job Description
The GCC Transportation Production Manager is responsible for safely and efficiently leading transportation teams to achieve the company vision to be the leader in safety, quality, innovation and efficiency. Positively communicates the company vision and aggressively pursues and achieves continual improvement in all areas of company operations. Performs the job in a professional manner, demonstrating company values of fair and ethical success.
Responsible for daily planning, scheduling, and dispatching of transportation resources to achieve 100% efficient utilization of assets. Directs employees to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Ensures new employees receive necessary training to safely and efficiently complete daily activities. Interacts daily with field personnel. Works with plant and site managers to obtain maximum safety and efficiency in all operations. Maintains DOT records and internal information to ensure that GCC is in compliance with state and federal regulations. Leads and directs regularly scheduled team lead meetings to coordinate division activities. Ensures fleet is maintained and repaired in a timely and efficient manner.
Leads transportation teams to constantly identify, minimize, and eliminate risks associated with work activities. Works with transportation teams to establish safety goals; and leads the effort to achieve and celebrate safety goals. Has an excellent understanding of DOT, state and federal regulations relative to driver and transportation compliance. Leads transportation teams to ensure company compliance with maintenance of driver logs and records. Conducts regular safety observations, and holds teams accountable. Has a valid drivers' license and is approved to drive company vehicles.
Focuses on and maintains the attention of Gilchrist Construction Transportation Division teams to constantly identify and eliminate waste. Ensures continuous improvement and learning by leading teams to use standardized operations and systems to improve safety, efficiency, and quality. Constantly looks for, and identifies, waste.
Continually improves in personal development by seeking out and utilizing opportunities to learn and grow as a construction professional. Builds personal, team, and company résumés through utilization of the individual development planning process.
Develops and maintains a culture of learning throughout all levels of the division. Serves as a teacher, mentor, and coach to develop strong crew/teams members across the organization.
Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
