Rainbow Station, the Infant and Preschool program at the New Canaan YMCA, is looking for enthusiastic, energetic, and nurturing candidates to join our team.
Our classroom teachers work together to provide a program to foster children’s social, physical, emotional, and cognitive growth. Our childcare classes participate with other YMCA programming departments/staff, including professional swim instruction, Bouncing Bears gymnastic time, music classes and more, all within the regular weekly schedule.
We offer small classrooms, divided into yearly age brackets - allowing candidates to indicate their preference for working with Infants (6 weeks to a year), Toddlers (1s or 2s), or Preschool (3s or 4s) or to be "floaters" across classrooms.
We are currently looking for FULL-TIME (8 hour shifts, 35-40 hours per week) as well as PART-TIME (20 - 25 hours per week) candidates -
Our center is open Mondays through Fridays from 7:30am to 6pm - and we'd like to hear whether you prefer:
- Morning Shift (7:15 am – 2:30 pm)
- Afternoon Shift (11am – 6pm)
- Rotating shifts – a combination of the above for those who like variety (and more freedom for work/life balance)
Successful candidates will possess:
- High school diploma
- Knowledge of Early Childhood Development
- A “Safety First” mindset
- Excellent communication skills and an abundance of patience
- Punctual and Reliable
- A love of singing, storytelling, imaginative play, and crafts
- Responsive and flexible to the needs of the program
- Ability to work well with children in cooperation with other staff and parents of participants
