City Experiences is seeking a Shipyard Assistant Production Manager for our operation in Puerto Rico.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody City Experiences' RESPECT Service System.

About the Opportunity:

This position has responsibility managing all production activities performed by PR Ferry's Shipyard Team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Assistant Production manager of all construction and repair activities.
  • Manage all trade supervisors and contractors for performed work.
  • Evaluate progress and quality of work being performed.
  • Assist in the evaluation of needed resources and project procurement.
  • Evaluate project plans, work hours, budgets, and expenditures.
  • Assist project management team in tracking all labor costs, expenses, and project timelines.
  • Enforce quality control and assurance throughout trades.
  • Efficiently and accurately communicate relevant project information to the project team.
  • Review field inspection reports from consultants throughout the life cycle of the project.
  • Maintain and enforce OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Ensure environmental regulations are maintained throughout the facility and all outside activities.
  • Organize and maintain the repair and maintenance of all facility equipment.
  • Ensure facility cleanliness and housekeeping is kept at high standards at all times.
  • Provide detailed construction status reports as necessary.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all clients and contractors.
  • Assist the Program Manager, as well as Development and Management departments with drafts and issuance of project proposals, RFP's, tenders, budgets, cash flows and preliminary schedules.
  • Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Interview, hire, and maintain production staff with assistance of other departments.
  • Travel to project sites 10-90% of the time within the US and internationally as needed.
  • Develop work plans for project initiation, planning, execution, control, and closeout of construction and repair projects.
  • Evaluate and track progress, quality, timeline, and costs of work being performed by marine and engineering trades, designers, and contractors.
  • Track and evaluate project plans, work hours, budgets, and expenditures.
  • Provide detailed construction status reports as necessary.
  • Organize and host all on-site construction meetings.
  • Efficiently and accurately communicate relevant project information to the project team.
  • Review field inspection reports from consultants throughout the life cycle of the project.
  • Assist the Program manager, as well as Development Management Departments with drafts and issuance of engineering, design, and management project proposals, RFP's, tenders, budgets, cash flows and preliminary schedules.
  • Maintain professional relationships with all clients and contractors.
  • Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Maintain contract execution tracking log, including change orders.
  • Control all project data throughout the lifecycle of the project.
  • Prepare substantial completion certificates and ensure all project closeout documents are obtained and filed.
  • Travel to project sites 10-90% of the time within the US and internationally on an as needed basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • Previous shipyard experience.
  • BS in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience is An advanced degree is preferred in a technical discipline associated with vessel construction or ship repair such as marine engineering.
  • Understanding of aluminum vessel design and construction.
  • Familiarity with classification society rules (ABS, USCG, etc.)
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working in a team and operational environment to manage systems.
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and organizational documentation file management systems.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to board vessels, enter confined spaces with limited visibility and have the ability to climb up and down stairs and/or ladders of varying heights to complete inspections.
