Date founded
In Detroit, Michigan during the 1940s, Evelyn Overton baked cheesecakes that would be the inspiration for a national brand. Everyone loved Evelyn’s cheesecake so much that she decided to open up her own bakeshop. In 1972, after years of caring for her children, Evelyn reignited her passion for owning a business and opened The Cheesecake Factory Bakery with her husband, Oscar, in Los Angeles. Finally, in 1978 the duo took their business and delicious cheesecake recipe to Beverly Hills where they opened the first The Cheesecake Factory restaurant. Today, the restaurant has turned into an extremely profitable franchise that continues to grow to provide the best food and service to hungry diners everywhere.
