JOB SUMMARY
Temporary / Seasonal Assembly Technician position is responsible for quality workmanship while assembling subassemblies or parts of subassemblies to the main machine, combine or header.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• To assemble subassemblies or parts of subassemblies to the main machine, combine or header
• To check and double check own work and correct any assembly and minor fit up problems
• To fulfill job with skill and judgment as well as alertness to avoid excessive spoilage
• To take responsibility for quality and workmanship during assembly work
• To assist in planning assembly procedures and administer the completion of a machine
• To conduct final functional tests to verify that the assembled unit operates properly and that a high quality product is delivered to the customer
• To keep work area neat, clean, and orderly and to follow prescribed safety regulations
• To report shop floor related items to the data system
OTHER FUNCTIONS
• Assemble most subassemblies and/or machines from blueprint without supervision
• Independently carry out general assembly procedures and able to work by assembly instructions sheets
• Improve techniques, processes, material flow, equipment and plant layout
REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum of high school degree, additional training and college education is desirable
• Two to three years of assembly experience. Preferably at least one year in agricultural machinery assembly, repair, operation or maintenance a plus
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds and be able to climb onto machines
• Considerable fitting, aligning and adjusting skills to fulfill very close tolerances and strict inspection requirements
• Experience in operating material handling equipment like cranes and forklifts
• Proven ability to skillfully use all tools, machinery and equipment necessary for assembly work, including torque tools and electronic adjusting, diagnosis and test equipment
• Ability to read/understand blueprints, technical drawings and specifications
• Must have a good command of the English language, both written and verbal
• Basic computer and SAP knowledge are desirable
• Must be able to perform simple shop mathematics
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment
• Knowledge of safe assembly practices
• Farm background and previous large equipment driving experience a plus
