Account Manager

Requirements

The Account Manager at Whelan Security has the ultimate responsibility to build, improve and maintain relationships with customers and employees, develop staff, and coordinate needed support services to effectively run a single site or portfolio. This individual is responsible for the daily functioning of the account, including the supervision and implementation of the daily activities of security personnel assigned to the facilities, as well as meeting or exceeding the financial and operational goals of the assigned account.

The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable of all company policies and all client concerns and contract specifications. Individual performance will be evaluated based on, but not limited to, achieving financial goals, developing staff and providing quality customer service.

Staff Management
  • Communicate staffing needs to local branch; assist recruiters in identifying, interviewing and hiring quality candidates
  • Develop staff in both technical and professional skills through performance management (coaching, counseling, disciplining, training, annual formal performance evaluations, recognition, etc.)
  • Assure that employee grievances are heard and resolved (with help from appropriate branch support employees, as required) and that personnel records are updated and accurate (change of status forms, rosters, etc.)
  • Assure communication of policies, company announcements and job openings through a consistently updated read/pass-on file at each site
  • Provides the basis of a great place to work by treating staff with respect


Enforcement of Contract Standards
  • Meet all contractual scheduled hours with a minimum of unbilled overtime
  • Coordinate and/or conduct site-specific OJT, client-specific training, and annual refresher training for security personnel, as well as meet Whelan's corporate training standards
  • Conduct regular (not less frequently than once every other month), unannounced inspections
  • Submit documented reports, in electronic format, on all inspections to owner to evidence supervision requirements
  • Utilize inspections as a tool for further training, testing and review
  • Reconcile security logs against shift responsibilities and patrols; review incident reports prior to submitting to client and coordinate preliminary investigations
  • Perform account audits and off-hour visits, completing required documentation
  • Develop/maintain operational procedures so that valid, site-specific post orders are always available for emergency reference by the security staff
  • Instructions and emergency procedures shall be reviewed and updated on an on-going basis, but no less frequently than quarterly
  • Manage uniforms, equipment, supplies & vehicles utilized at the account, maintaining appropriate inventories and maintenance checklists
  • Take a proactive role in communicating with the client and meeting their needs; meet with regularly, listen to issues, provide security and technical expertise and solutions.
  • Ensure complete customer satisfaction
  • Meet regularly with customer to review operations and make recommendations for improved security
  • Be responsible for assigned account(s) and security personnel seven days a week. Although after hours supervision may be in place, all after-hour contacts must be responded to promptly
  • Ensure security, life and fire safety standards of operation are achieved to a high standard and maintained
  • Monitor maintenance and recordkeeping for all security, life and fire safety components
  • Confer with representatives of local government to ensure cooperation and coordination of planned activities
  • Establish personal contact with operational members of local law enforcement, fire department and as applicable emergency response agencies
  • Coordinates activities (as they relate to security issues) with the building maintenance and janitorial service supervisors
  • Oversee safety and reliability of elevator/escalator units
  • Provide a high standard of customer service through professional and courteous inter-action with all customers (external/internal) visitors, contractors and management
  • Ensure that all incidents involving the client facility and/or its employees, visitors or contractors are thoroughly investigated and properly documented
  • Maintain and provide daily activity reports from each security officer assigned to the customer facilities
  • Maintain and provide incident reports, which will be completed and filed for the types of events or occurrences designated by the customer
  • Maintain and provide weekly time record of hours worked by all Whelan Security assigned to the facilities


Administrative Management
  • Efficiently interface with Whelan branch and support staff and negotiate realistic deadlines for needed services
  • Administer site safety program, workers' compensation and risk management programs as appropriate to the site and Whelan procedures
  • Participate in unemployment hearings when required
  • Enforce Whelan Security policies as outlined by the handbooks and executive memos


Financial Management
  • Work directly with the branch office to meet account financial goals including gross profit, overtime, and payroll accuracy. These will be greatly impacted by high employee retention/low turnover
  • Assist Branch/Area Manager with rate increases, billing management and accounts receivable.
  • Work with the branch office in assisting the client in preparing their security budget by providing relevant information


Mandatory Prerequisites

The ideal candidate will have at least 3+ years of relevant supervisory or management experience. A college degree (Associates or Bachelors) is preferred although equivalent experience will be considered. Previous contract services, hospitality, military or law enforcement experience is also desirable. Candidates must demonstrate a stable work history and pass an extensive background screening which includes, but is not limited to, criminal background checks (local, state, and federal), drug test, aptitude tests, skills assessments, interviews, past employment verification, and a personality profile (behavioral assessment).

Current certification as a CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor is preferred, as is i n depth experience with security management in a Class A facility.
