Randstad is actively seeking an Administrative Assistant to support the Executive Director in an international nonprofit organization that administers international development and relief projects outside of the United States. This is a permanent position located in the heart of Washington, DC. The ideal candidate would have a comprehensive background with experience in program management, accounting, event planning and support to a higher level manager or director. The salary for this position will be between 35K - 45K annually, commensurate with experience with excellent benefits in a culturally diverse working environment.

Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Director and staff with such administrative duties as making appointments, researching and identifying donor resources, monitoring and evaluating all activities, projects and programs
- Complete payroll and basic accounting functions while assisting the Accountant
- Keeping minutes and recording notes from Board and Executive Committee meetings
- Receive and direct all incoming telephone calls to appropriate office staff and use critical thinking and problem solving skills to action items before escalating them to the manager
- Arrange all travel for the ED including air, ground transportation, hotel reservations and high level meetings
- Typing and distributing correspondence to appropriate staff as directed by the Director
- Executing all disbursements of funds in accordance with the ED and donors in addition to managing the master schedule of all planned activities and track progress against the set plan
- Handles all information for the Executive Director and staff with the upmost confidentiality

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5:30pm

Skills/Experience Required:
Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of experience as a Program Assistant or Administrative Assistant
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices and proficiency in QuickBooks
50WPM and high proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to act as a liaison with all levels of the organization
Interact with Field program managers with the ability to speak French and resolve problems effectively with minimal to no supervision
Experience composing letters, reports and assisting the ED with the preparation of proposals to be submitted to funding sources
Cultural sensitivity with a great deal of patience, professionalism and tact
Flexibility to travel within and outside the United States
Proficiency in French or Spanish, Haitian Creole is a plus!
