Job Summary: The cook position prepares food according to recipes and food/health safety regulations for customer consumption.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:Set up and break down work stations maintains a clean and sanitary work station Cook and prepare food according to production guidelines and recipes Knowledge of food product, identification, and acceptable level of food qualityEnsure food is stored at the appropriate temperature for the appropriate length of time and follows all food safety standardsComplete daily temperature logsMust know methods of food preparation, cooking times, and portion sizes to insure food is prepared in prescribed mannerEvaluates food quality and preparedness by tasting Cuts, trims, bones and carves meats and poultry for cookingResponsible for using correct portions when cutting, preparing, and serving itemsClean and sanitizes work areas, equipment and utensilsMust be able to safely operate all kitchen equipment Must be able to read and follow recipes Must be able to understand and follow directions from the Manager/SupervisorAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently lift, push, pull, or carry up to 30 lbs Ability to walk or stand for extended time periods, up to 6 hoursInvolves repetitive motion Involves working with chemicals, heated equipment, steam and at other risk conditions Additional Job Functions: Assist in other areas as neededAdhere to weekly/monthly cleaning schedules as posted by managementCompletion of any task requested by a supervisor or member of the ARAMARK management team.Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct supervisory responsibilities.Required Qualifications: Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment Excellent customer serviceMinimum 2 years experience in the food service industry as a cookHigh School Education or equivalent Desired Qualifications: Serve Safe Certified Degree in Culinary Arts More than 5 years experience in the food service industry as a cookWork Environment: Back-of-house. Requires frequent lifting/transporting hot food items, ability to work inside kitchen area, interact with heated equipment, steam and other at risk conditions. Involves repetitive motion
