Overview
Focused on large new business opportunities through high level dialogue centered around Optum solutions. This is a senior-level business development role accountable for driving Optum's growth agenda with strategic and key clients. The SVP BD will have full accountability for client growth targets by leveraging solution and consulting offerings in the Employer space.
The primary role of the SVP BD is to develop senior level, sustainable client relationships where access and influence is significant and growth is consistent and long term. This individual will leverage these relationships and influence to diagnose and provide innovative and cost efficient fully encompassing solutions.


Primary Responsibilities:


-Drive growth through identifying new business opportunities with strategic and key clients.


-Develop and execute strategic plans to approach and sell integrated solutions to Fortune 1000 companies and state employers.  Design and sell solutions across a continuum of the industry's leading health products and services.


-Engage client executives (C-Suite and decision makers), providing strategic, thought-leadership on the client's industry and market. Understand the client's unique business environment and challenges. Utilize consultative selling and collaboration skills to architect organization wide solutions.


-Ensure we understand the client's strategic objectives and the initiatives that support the business strategy. Provide input to relevant Optum colleagues on market trends as represented by prospective clients.


-Follow-up on prospects, successfully negotiate and acquire new clients as well as expand our relationships with brokers and consultants


-Make presentations to employers, brokers, consultants and at industry functions to educate prospects on integrated health and productivity solutions.


-Establish strong working relationships with distribution channel partners and account managers.

Requirements

Key Qualifications :


-Minimum of 15 years of strategic business development or senior level consulting experience with 5+ years of experience in driving deep, productive relationships with C-Suite and senior-level client executives. Demonstrated success in accessing and influencing senior level clients.


-Strong, established network of executive level sponsors within the healthcare industry.


-Proven experience and expertise in the healthcare market required.


-Proven ability to analyze complex market opportunities and develop creative solutions to a wide variety of unique market problems. Advanced consultative selling skills with the ability to successfully construct solutions.


-Demonstrated ability to effectively message, position and present information for client impact and influence. Excellent negotiation, influencing, collaboration, and listening skills.


-Proven ability to operate and effectively navigate in a highly complex, matrix environment. Ability to successfully negotiate complex internal operating environments with a high level of collaboration. Role models an expertise point of view.


-Undergraduate degree required; an advance degree (e.g., MBA, MHA) is preferred.

-Diagnoses Client Needs. Demonstrates deep analysis and assessment capabilities aligned with the needs of the client. Utilizes previous known solutions and analytics available to diagnose the client's needs. Leverages larger for analytics and input.


-Influence and Negotiate. Communicates a clear and compelling vision. Presents a compelling case for ideas and proposals. Builds a broad base of support among key decision-makers and influencers. Uses personal influence and credibility to achieve organizational impact.
