Position Purpose:

 To supervise the staff at and
oversee the daily operation of a remote distribution center, and to ensure the
smooth flow of merchandise from the distribution center to individual store
locations. This position consists of a variety of different tasks, ranging from
inventory control to employee management.


Essential Job Functions: Through previous background and experience, the candidate must demonstrate, with or without an accommodation, the ability to:
  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with an emphasis on the Company's interests.
  • Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.
  • Analyze data to determine the appropriate course of action.
  • Effectively accomplish assigned duties/tasks through the work of subordinates.
  • Move merchandise up to 50 pounds. 
Supervisory Responsibility:

 The nature of this position entails
supervising all non-exempt distribution center employees, to include
interviewing, hiring, training, assignment delegation and follow-through as
well as periodic performance review and disciplinary action and termination
when necessary.  There are no exempt
level supervisory subordinates reporting to this position.


Work Environment:

 While some job duties are performed
while seated indoors, the majority of the time is spent in the distribution
center, where exposure to heat, cold, dirt, dust, fumes and noises should not
be overlooked. As the incumbent may also be required on occasion to work in the
warehouse, there may also be risk of injury resulting from improper procedures. 



Education/Experience:

  High school diploma or the
equivalent (GED) is required as are two years of college education or the
equivalent combination of education and experience, while a four-year college
degree in business, management or logistics is preferred.  In addition, a qualified applicant will
demonstrate a strong working knowledge of basic distribution center management
principles, including scheduling, accounting relationships and inventory
control policies.  Minimum two years
related warehouse supervisory or management experience required.
