Labor & Delivery Nurse - (LD RN)

Unit Description:
Labor and Delivery, will float to FCC (Family Care Center)
180 - 205 Births Per Month
-Total # of beds in the unit: 11 LDRP’s, 5 Triage, 6 RR.
-Nurse to patient ratios 1:1 or 1:2 for all shifts.
-No Ancillary Staff.
-Intrapartum and postpartum patients
-Unit patient population: Laboring and delivery patients, intrauterine pregnancy related problems. All patients examined by physician or midwife on duty.
-Special Unit Procedures that could cause ethical issues: Induced Abs, Blood products / transfusions.
-Documentation System: PCD, QS (surveillance only).
-Supplemental Staff required to float when necessary.
-Scrubs can be any color, RN provides their own scrubs.
-RN's circulate for Tubal and C-sections. Recover both mother and baby. -Post anesthesia recovery.
-Antepartum testing.
-Low to High risk antepartum
Labor and delivery (LD) nurses provide care to women and their newborns during the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum and neonatal stages. They provide support and monitor vital signs of the mother and baby during birth and deal with any potential problems. They may also provide support and education to mothers and their families after giving birth. LD nurses are found in hospitals, clinics and physician offices, and maternity or birthing centers.
Required Qualifications
1. AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced FHM--(within past 2 years)
2. ACLS, NRP, BLS
3. Circulate experience
4. 2 years experience and high risk experience
Preferred Qualifications
Strongly prefer scrub experience (especially for nights)
