Postpartum Nurse - Postpartum RN - (PP RN)
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 12 N Pay Rate: $32.00 - 37.00
330 bpm. Total # of beds in the unit: 50. Average daily census is: 24. Nurse to patient ratios 3 couplets for all shifts. No Ancillary Staff. Patients range in age from Neonates, Adolescents and Adults. Unit patient population: Postpartum, antepartum, GYN. Required Certs: BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring. Supplemental Staff required to float when necessary. Scrubs can be any color, RN provides their own scrubs.
Postpartum nurses are responsible for caring for both moms and their newborns after delivery. The postpartum care nurse plays a crucial role in the hours following delivery, monitoring mothers and helping to ensure proper recovery. Postpartum RNs must recognize postpartum depression and teach new moms how to address emotions, while also acting as a teacher for the new parents and usually giving instructions on how to care, bathe, breastfeed and/or bottle-feed the newborn and monitor his or her health.
Required Qualifications
1. Postpartum exp with couplet care
2. BLS, NRP
3. Breastfeeding education (baby friendly hospital that promotes breast-feeding only)
4. Ability to float to two of the following units (Antepartum, LD, Peds, NICU)
Preferred Qualifications
Intermediate Awhonn FHM
