We have an immediate opening for MedTrans Region Operations Supervisor at our Mundelein, Illinois headquarters. The MedTrans Operations Supervisor reports to the MedTrans Senior Manager and is responsible for operational support of a region of facilities with and without local MedTrans Supervisors. The Supervisor interacts with cross-functional teams to include, but not limited to, Sales, Engineering, HR, Customer Service, Finance, Operations, Payroll and Warehouse Personnel. This individual assists private fleet services with keeping expenses under control. In addition to exceptional communication and analytical skills, you must have a “roll-up your sleeves” attitude.

Challenging responsibilities:
  • Provide operational support and acts as subject matter expert (SME) for assigned locations on all things related to MedTrans (including, but not limited to, finances, equipment, routing, costing, proper staffing, maintenance, vendor relations and safety and compliance).
  • Travel to assigned facilities to provide on-site support to warehouse personnel and drivers. Complete Driver Observations ("ride-alongs") and site recap during each visit.
  • Conduct financial review calls with assigned locations to include the MedTrans Supervisor, Branch Director, local VP, MedTrans Senior Manager and MedTrans Senior Director.
  • Work with Sales, customers and site personnel as business needs change in order to identify opportunities within MedTrans.
  • Focus on cost reduction through efficient routing, vendor management and continuous contact with site personnel (including Directors, Supervisors and Drivers).
  • Maintain proper driver staffing levels and assist in retaining and recruiting needs in warehouses.
  • Train and assist supervisors throughout MedTrans network.
  • Assist with warehouse set-up when new facilities open within region.
  • Assist Safety Department when visiting warehouses to ensure there are no safety issues to be addressed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in fleet operations/federal motor carrier operations preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cost components throughout supply chain, especially transportation and motor carrier operations
  • Thorough understanding of Department Of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with TMS and route optimization software preferred
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organization skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and self-manage projects; ability to use sound judgment
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically
