Specific Job Summary (nature and purpose of the position)

The Manager, Flex Staffing, HR Technology is a member of the Flex Staffing department within Marriott's Talent Acquisition organization. This position will focus on managing the day-to-day aspects of the vendor management system (VMS), Fieldglass. The Manager will be responsible for working very closely with representatives from Marriott's VMS provider to ensure the system is optimized, achieving maximum efficiency, and advocate for new functionality based on Marriott's business needs and volume of business to provider. The Manager is expected to understand new technology enhancements during software upgrades, assess the relevance and implications to Marriott, and recommend whether to implement. This position will also be integrally involved in any major initiatives pertaining to continued utilization and optimization of the VMS.

As needed, the Manager will also be responsible for providing support to the Corporate Staffing Manager in filling temporary staffing needs for Marriott International's corporate headquarters. This includes working closely with hiring managers at corporate headquarters, as well as satellite offices, to understand the business/functional needs and employ the most effective strategy for identifying qualified talent (e.g., deploying an existing flex associate or utilizing a professional staffing vendor). This area of focus involves partnering with vendors to convey the position profile, monitor the recruitment process and effectively manage the vendor relationship.

This position will also independently manage special projects which requires an ability to use independent thinking and problem solving skills to be successful in a fast-paced environment.

Specific Expected Contributions (including duties and responsibilities)

Vendor Management System (VMS)
  • Develop and maintain an expertise on the VMS technology, becoming the subject matter expert on its functionality and a resource to new and existing users.
  • Identify opportunities to further amplify utilization of the technology and surface any associated risks, including broader business process changes that may exist with each software release.
  • Partner closely with VMS vendor to ensure the successful development and integration of system processes, including communicating with internal stakeholders and VMS vendor on the coordination of software upgrades and enhanced business processes.
  • Establish an operational relationship with VMS vendor to keep abreast of long- and short-term developments that may have potential impacts to Flex Staffing or other TA systems or strategies.
  • Facilitate bi-weekly IRT calls, maintain issue log and monitor resolution.
  • Create and update a manual that illustrates the detailed process of Program Management Office's utilization of VMS that supports temp labor needs for both corporate headquarters and the market.
  • Manage special projects in support of the corporate and market business strategy pertaining to the VMS.


Temporary Staffing Support
  • As needed, provide support to Corporate Staffing Manager in filling temporary staffing needs for Marriott International, corporate headquarters.
  • Responsible for filling temporary job orders submitted to Flex Staffing by leveraging current talent in the Flex Staffing department or, when necessary, utilizing Marriott approved staffing vendors.
  • Leverage the Fieldglass (VMS) software to execute flex staffing recruitment process.
  • Manage the relationship with professional staffing and serve as a point of contact for any issues, including contract interpretation, bill rates, placements, etc.

Specific Candidate Profile (the education, experience, skills and attributes that are important for this position)

Bachelor's degree required; degree in Human Resources or related subject area preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience using recruiting technology.
Prior experience working with a vendor management system (VMS) required. Experience with Fieldglass strongly preferred.
Strong proficiency with technology, such as Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience working with PeopleSoft is desired.
Ability to leverage knowledge of technology and systems to understand new enhancements, troubleshoot issues and identify opportunities for continued optimization and efficiency of the VMS.
Ability to review vendor contract language and use the understanding to advocate for Marriott's best interests and/or escalate potential risks to leadership.
Strong organization skills and an orientation to detail. Capable of independently handling a multitude of assignments, with minimal direction from management. This includes involvement on project teams for broader business initiatives (e.g., launch of VMS to market operations) and management of special projects.
Ability to interface and communicate with all levels of the workforce, entry level to top management.
Demonstrated ability to work in a high-pressure environment while delivering high quality service in a timely and professional manner.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong team player. Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across the organization, both internally and externally (Marriott colleagues, flex associates and hiring managers; professional services vendors, VMS provider, etc.).
Demonstrates self-confidence and sound business judgment.
Knowledge of Marriott's organization structure, businesses and human resources policies, practices, and procedures a plus.
