Floor Technician

Position Summary:

Performs all daily and interim maintenance of floors in all resident, common, dining, entrance, and service areas according to established floor maintenance schedule. Responsible for overall presentation and cleanliness of floors on a daily basis and regular project work to be performed where needed. May assist in any housekeeping or maintenance related improvement projects throughout the scheduled work day.

Routine Functions of the Position:

• May buff, polish and strip floors using heavy equipment.
• Sweeps, mops, scrubs, polishes floors and vacuums hallways and stairs.
• Notifies Maintenance concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
• Extracts carpets where needed and per schedule
• Performs minor operational maintenance.
• May clean furniture.
• May empty trash, linen, and garbage containers.
• May handle hazardous waste.
• May wash walls.
• Assists in training and reviewing tasks assigned to other co-workers as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to effectively communicate policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by fellow employees.
• Knowledge of cleaning agents, equipment, and methods of soil removal.

Work environment:

• Work is performed in an area that is adequately lighted and ventilated.
• Specific physical characteristics and abilities are required to perform the work, such as agility, dexterity, and long periods of walking, standing, kneeling, twisting, bending, carrying, or lifting supplies and equipment weighting 50 pounds or more.
• Requires normal range vision, hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Wears protective clothing required by the work environment or governmental regulations.
• Workplace includes the entire building and surrounding grounds.

Reports to: Housekeeping Supervisor

Supervises: None

Experience:

• Six (6) months of related work experience preferred.
• Experience in all phases of floor care preferred.
• Carpet care experience helpful.

Education:

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience

General:

• No Supervisor/Managerial Experience
• No Certification Requirements
• Works under minimal supervision.
