Aerotek CE is seeking an Electrical Component Engineer for a growing company in Portland, OR. This is a 12-18 month contract opportunity.

Job Functions
This Electrical Component Engineer position is a part of the Mechatronics Wiring Diagrams Team. The Wiring Diagrams Team is responsible for developing electrical logic standards and solutions and electrical common parts solutions for all brands. The Electrical Component Engineer works with the Mechatronics department and electrical engineering teams to develop and document new electrical component requests and electrical component specifications.

An Electrical Engineer is required to load new electrical parts into the various CAD libraries for devices and components, and to keep the data up to date.

Research, load, and maintain 3D models and 2D symbols of all electrical parts in the NX, CATIA, LCable, and Capital CAD Libraries.
Support the CHS release process.
Provide technical support for general use electrical components, (i.e. connectors, terminals, relays, cables, switches, circuit breakers, fuses, etc) to Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing and suppliers.
Research general use electrical components, including part numbers, dimensions, and drawings.
Resolve questions regarding general use electrical components with a high level of technical expertise and support.
Review and process new and revision requests for general use electrical components and determine that requirements are met.
Maintain and populate electrical systems data, for example Electrical Connector database, circuit identification numbers.
Maintain, create and release electrical component part numbers and drawings.
Work with vendors regarding existing and proposed electrical components.
Coordinate design release between engineers and CAD design group.
Support component cost saving initiatives and design/release process improvements.
Research general use electrical components, including part numbers, series, dimensions, drawings, performance, availability, and part relationships and resolve questions regarding general use of these electrical components with a high level of technical expertise and support.
Maintain, create, and release electrical component part numbers, drawings, and specifications and review and process new revision requests for general use electrical components and ensure that requirements are met.
Maintain and populate electrical component and circuit number data base.
Support component cost saving initiatives, quality improvement initiatives, warranty initiatives, and design/release process improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelors degree in engineering with Electrical/electronics discipline and three years of design experience OR an Associates degree with 5 years of experience is required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills (PC/MS Office and mainframe) is required.
Well-organized and able to balance multiple tasks, detail oriented, possess good judgment, and exercise initiative is required.
Computer skills (PC skills, MS office tools, mainframe) is required.

Basic vehicle electrical system knowledge is preferred.
Knowledge of Mentor Graphics LCable, Capital Harness Systems (CHS) Catia V5 and NX is strongly preferred.
