We have a full-time opening for a Payroll Garnishment Specialist.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

Duties:


The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting in the weekly tax garnishments verification and reconciliation and processing of payroll tax files and garnishments in a high-volume environment. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with balancing and reporting for filing, resolving issues, tax research. May also be asked to assist in the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations for all payroll-related accounts, analyze and resolve payroll discrepancies by researching, validating and correcting data.



Garnishments & Tax:



Assist with compilation of payroll data and statistics

Review, set up and process garnishments

Review and maintain various log and excel spreadsheet to assist in the reconciliation and validation of employee deductions

Review, maintain and ensure accurate interpretation of state and federal tax regulations, court orders, and legal requirements

Accumulate and organize information to ensure accurate reporting to federal, state and local agencies

Will need to research internal and/or external escalated issues reported

Run standard reports within the HRMS/Payroll System

Reconcile related payroll information for reporting and funding requirements

Support the Employee Service Center through phone call or service ticket creation

Keep abreast with multi-state payroll laws and those relating to specific field of specialization

May perform other related duties or ad hoc projects within the scope of responsibilities

THIS POSITION HAS A HEAVY EMPHASIS ON GARNISHMENTS



Payroll Accounting:


Assist with maintenance and/or updating of supporting documentation (i.e. excel) for payroll-related accounts

Will perform reconciliation of various accounts, as directed

May assist with periodic audit of various payroll areas

May perform other related duties or ad hoc projects within the scope of responsibilities


Job Complexities:


Perform work that is varied and that may be somewhat complex in nature, usually requiring significant analysis, understanding and knowledge.

Has appreciable latitude for un-reviewed action or decision.

There is a high liability risk associated within the responsibilities of this role

Works under broad supervision applying well established techniques, procedures or specific standards. Work reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall accuracy

Skills: •Knowledge of in-house mulit-state payroll, large employer experience, using multiple federal tax ID’s (FEIN) a plus •Knowledge with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the field of payroll tax and garnishments •Typically has 3+ years of experience in area of Payroll Garnishment and Tax Administration with at least 2 years in a processing role •Multi-State payroll a plus •Excellent problem solving, independent decision making and analytical skills •Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure (deadlines) in a high volume environment •Understanding of HRMS systems and payroll processing best practices •Excellent verbal and written communication skills •Ability to research compliance requirements at the Federal, State and Local level •PC Proficient with Microsoft Office •Intermediate skills in Excel (Functions, calculations & filtering) Education: •High School Diploma or equivalent •FPC or CPP designation preferred •College degree preferred, not required
