As with any job at Tom+Chee, no matter what you do we encourage you to learn and help any other workgroup. We are a team, and we strive to make this a fun and safe place to work. As a dishwasher, you are responsible for maintaining clean dishes, kitchen work areas and restaurant equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Cleans and maintains dishes throughout the shift, ensuring all dishes are free from debris.
  • Scrapes food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine, storing cleaned dishes in a way for proper air drying.
  • Collects dirty dishes and baskets from the dining room and pre-busses tables.
  • Ensures dishes and baskets are fully dried prior to returning to service when possible.
  • Keeps dish area, sinks and dish machine clean and organized.
  • Keep food traps/baskets free of food and debris.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the restaurant, including periodic sweeps of the cook line, prep area, dish machine and dining room.
  • Cleans up spills immediately and places floor signs as applicable.
  • Maintains restroom cleanliness through scheduled checks, restocking as necessary.
  • Empties trash cans (at ¾ full) and transports the trash to dumpsters.
  • Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
  • Checks tables and wipes down chairs.
  • Assists with the preparation of food items needed for production as business dictates.
  • Performs opening and closing checklists (shift and store) daily and communicates any items needing attention to the manager on duty.
  • Adheres to all restaurant policies and procedures paying special attention to health and/or safety procedures.
  • Reports any problems or discrepancies to the manager immediately.
  • Maintains knowledge of and assists other workgroups as business dictates.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

Language Ability:
Ability to speak effectively to guests or crewmembers. Ability to read and interpret documents such as recipes, policy information, memos, checklists, safety rules, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, such as the completion of checklists.

Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement and volume as part of recipe preparation.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the crewmember will use and maintain the following equipment oven, grill, stovetop, knives and utensils, dishwashing machine, slicer, blender, and phone system.
