Air Quality Scientist/Engineer (contract to hire):
This company is a national leader in environmental consulting with a reputation for excellence in the air quality field. We are seeking candidates for the position of Air Quality Scientist/Engineer with 1 to 6 years of experience to be located at one of our California offices to support our growing Planning, Permitting and Licensing practice.

We are seeking an energetic and motivated individual who can contribute to a broad range of projects that require air quality emissions and dispersion modeling, emission control system design support, Greenhouse Gas inventories, impact assessment, and permitting.

The candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Collect data regarding sources of air emissions.
  • Conduct modeling of emissions from stationary and mobile sources.
  • Support preparation of reports and project and task documents.
  • Support project managers on a variety of environmental projects for clients. Meet budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Execute assignments and deliver work products.
  • Maintain state-of-the art knowledge of air quality regulations, requirements, and best practices.
  • Contribute technical expertise to project teams.

The ideal Candidate would have the following qualifications/experience:

  • BS or higher degree in the atmospheric sciences, or chemical or mechanical, engineering
  • Knowledge of and experience with air quality regulations in California
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise in spreadsheets and word processing
  • 1 - 6 years' experience in Air Quality modeling, analysis, engineering, and/or regulations in a consulting, industrial/commercial or agency setting, including new source permitting (PSD and non-attainment), RACT/BACT/LAER technology reviews, emissions inventory and Title V permitting, and regulatory compliance evaluations
  • Understanding of Federal and California air quality regulations and policies and emerging regulatory programs
  • Experience in power project licensing, including emissions estimates for various fuel types and technologies (boilers, combustion turbines, diesel engines, etc.)
