SUMMARY: Protects the reputation and credit worthiness of the association by preparing and processing employee payroll timely and accurately. Position also produces and maintains files and corresponding reports related to payroll and employee earnings and ensures tax reports and payments are filed accurately and timely. Assists in ensuring internal control functions are followed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned: 1. Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions. 2. Responds to employees' payroll inquiries in a timely fashion; maintains sensitivity to pay issues, and exhibits strict confidentiality with regard to employee information at all times. 3. Actively communicates with association supervisors to minimize potential for payroll errors and provides bi-weekly communication about position listings. 4. Prepares bi-weekly payroll for association. This includes pulling hours from Kronos system; manually entering batches for non-time clock programs/locations; processing payroll export interface; correcting errors in job code assignments; and balancing edits with open report. 5. Balances & finalizes payroll, then prints/prepares checks and vouchers. 6. Distributes vouchers to branches/locations using courier service; distributes live checks to employees without direct deposit and explains the options available to them. 7. Creates and sends Positive Pay and Direct Deposit files. 8. Calculates non-benefit related employee deductions (child support, garnishments, United Way, legal services, credit unions); requests payments via AP to appropriate agencies/institutions. 9. Calculates and processes federal, state, and local/city tax payments (bi-weekly); and bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax reporting. 10. Creates and distributes payroll analysis report; imports report to SGA and communicates with association supervisors regarding report. 11. Troubleshoots processing errors; processes adjustments (Mondays and Thursdays of non-payroll weeks), and responds to payroll inquiries from employees/supervisors. 12. Responds to requests for past & current employment verifications. 13. Creates bimonthly new hire report and uploads to State of Ohio website. 14. Processes monthly invoices for fingerprint checks. 15. Prepares report showing employees who have not been paid for six pay periods and distributes the report to association supervisors to submit status forms to HR. 16. Processes BWC billing (bi-annually). 17. Assists in internal year-end reconciliation process, report filings, and W-2 preparations. QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelors degree in accounting or related field and at least two years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required * Proficiency with MS Office programs (Word & Excel); data base/information systems (Kronos preferred), and ability to utilize web-based systems required. * YMCA Team Leader Certification; if not certified, must obtain certification within 1 year. o Team leader certification requires: Principles and Practices; Introduction to Volunteerism; Introduction to Leading Others; Introduction to Fiscal Management; Leadership competency assessment; Team Leader Certification Test. * Passionate belief in the Y's cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors. * Understanding of the nature and purpose of the YMCA and the respective roles of volunteers and staff. * Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. * Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others. * Ability to foster a collaborative team approach to solving challenging situations.
