The Security Solutions Architect is a hybrid of roles incorporating the following disciplines: technologist; researcher; consultant; and business partner. Our solutions architects work as part of cross-functional teams supporting clients with their information security needs. They are accountable for leading project work streams, synthesizing and analyzing complex data, and collaborating to develop high-quality client deliverables.  


 


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Acting as a subject matter expert to guide and craft complex security solutions

  • Establishing security criteria based on business, compliance, risk reduction and use cases

  • Providing solution architecture driven by regulatory compliance and customer security policies

  • Creating and maintaining required Security Architecture documentation

  • Recommending security controls, improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases

  • Collaborating with peers and other technology professionals to create high quality solutions

  • Partnering with PMO to provide trusted consulting services to clients 


 

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • 10+ years of experience as an IT professional 

  • 5+ years of information security experience 

  • 3+ years in a senior security position leading project delivery teams in a fast-paced environment 

  • Previous experience serving as a strategic consultant to clients (external preferred)

  • Oral and written communications skills to enable effective and meaningful information exchange between technical and non-technical people across multiple levels of organizational structure

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a discipline which compliments the role or equivalent experience/knowledge

 


 


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Functional experience with IT security architecture, principles, approaches and technologies

  • Ability to quickly ascertain existing Optum methodologies and intellectual capital to customize for business partner situation, develop an approach to drive work efforts, and frame potential deliverables

  • Working knowledge of security needs for operating systems, databases, applications, web services, user devices and networks 

  • Functional knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite, LAN/WAN technologies, switching, routing, VoIP and telephony technologies, firewalls and VPN, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), vulnerability assessment and patch management tools

  • Functional knowledge of Unix and Windows server operating systems

  • Active CISSP, SCCP, ISSAP or other industry-recognized certifications

  • General knowledge of IT Audit techniques 

  • Knowledge of regulatory drivers that affect the healthcare industry, including HIPAA and NIST 800-53

  • Ability to effectively conduct productive meetings with peers, vendors, business leaders, other technology professionals, executive leaders and clients
