About this job

Shift Hours: Base hours are Monday - Thursday 2:45pm to 1:15am (shift actually ends at 1:00am with 1:00-1:15 being a second break) with overtime possible Friday and Saturday. Second shift Machine Operator.

Musts:

6+ months or more experience operating CNC machinery
Good math skills and measurment skills (measured by Byer Tape test and Monti basic blueprint and math test)
Previous Forklift Operation experience (certified through another company at some point in time)

Preferred:

Set up experience on different CNC machinery
Editing experience on CNC programs
Lead experience in a machining capacity.
Experience working with Sheet metal

Job Duties:

This person will be primarly placed in one of their manufacturing areas but at times will be asked to help out in others. They will start out, more than likely, in the sheet metal department. In this area they will be trained to operate Turrets, brakes, and shear mainly. They will work with Pre-Galvanized sheet metal, aluminum sheet metal and flat steel and thicknesses range from 18-10 gauge for the most part. Typically they work with 10-12 gauge. They will utilize an ERP system that will tell them what jobs to work on. It will outline the job, the material needed and the program that needs run on the machine. They are then responsible for pulling the material via forklift, loading the program to the machine, running the material through, then checking the material based on the drawings supplied by the customer using squares and tape measures for the most part. Once the parts have been ran, they are responsible for bundling and packaging it then staging it on the inventory shelves. From here, shipping/receiving takes the material to the dock once it is ready to be shipped out.

Forklift operation is a key aspect of the job. A lot of their products are long extrusions that do not fit on a typical skid so having good forklift skills is important. For the most part, they are Linde forklifts (propane, sit-down), but they have a coulple CAT's as well)

based on how well this person picks up the machinery, they will be trained more and more on how to do set-ups and edits to the program, as well as tool changes.

From a preventative maintenance standpoint, they are expected to keep the machines clean, full of oil and hydraulic fluid as well.

From a programming standpoint, most programs used are generic programs that can be somewhat easily modified based on small changes depending on the job.

Other areas they may be asked to work in and associated machinery in each:

1) Aluminum extrusion shop - CNC milling machine (4-axis), Dual head CNC saws that make long, aluminum extruded shapes.
2) Steel Tube and fabricating area - basic drill presses and dies, a Tube laser (Mazak), 3-Headed Drill Press (one person typically can run the laser and the drill at the same time)
3) Larger I-Beam Fab Shop - Larger 3-Headed CNC Drill

Simply put we are looking for:

At a MINIMUM - basic understanding of CNC equip, good math skills and measuring skills and forklift operation exp. this would pay 12-13

In the MIDDLE: Past CNC Operation and good understanding of sheet metal gauges, measuring, shop math, forklift. Pay for this would be 13-14

At a MAXIMUM - CNC set-up, edit, lead exp on multiple CNC machines ...This would pay 15-16 maybe a dollar more if really strong

Additional Compensation:

Great benefits once brought on perm
