Optum is looking to enhance its vendor management strategy and is creating an expanded Vender Management Office to build and deliver capabilities focused on minimizing exposure to risk, vendor optimization/rationalization, and cost control in support of our  significant growth agenda. The Vendor Management Office will coordinate efforts across the company to ensure an integrated vendor strategy that supports our numerous internal stakeholders.  The Vendor Risk Assessment Director will be integral to this effort and is expected to coordinate across the company to support an efficient and effective approach to vendor risk assessment addressing multiple aspects of risk associated with the exchange of personal, financial and health information in the healthcare services environment.

 

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the development of a program to align and consolidate multiple corporate assessments to create a single integrated approach for vendor assessments

  • Partner with corporate stakeholders to document current state and develop a roadmap to implement change

  • Leverage corporate partners to perform risk assessment and procurement evaluations

  • Develop a framework and guidelines for on-going vendor performance reviews

  • Develop project plans, monitor performance, and communication plans for leadership

  • Align efforts with other Optum and UHG functions

  • Coordinate project plan including implementation and testing to accomplish go-live delivery dates

  • Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance and direction through multiple layers of management and senior level professional staff

  • Partner with business users to assure needs are being satisfied

  • Develop and deliver regular reporting on progress for the VMO team and executive leadership

Requirements

Required Qualifications:


  • BS/BA in business related field or equivalent education and experience

  • 8+ years of demonstrated operations management experience in healthcare and/or program management and business analysis experience in a similarly complex environment

  • 5+ years of experience creating and implement strategic plans

  • 3+ years of experience managing end to end project plan including implementation and testing phase

  • Internal and/or external client/vendor facing experience

  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to positive and effective customer services and experience

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Proven ability to navigate and influence in a complex and quickly changing corporate environment

  • Proven ability in optimizing operational and financial data to drive decisions

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, proven ability to influence and negotiate complex and matrix reporting relationships

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Advanced degree

  • Risk assessment or compliance background / experience

  • Familiarity with risks related to PHI, PII, PCI and data release management.
