3D Design Engineer Job

3D Design Engineer needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh's client located in Concord, CA

The Big Picture - Top Skills Should You Possess:

- Two to three (2-3) years experience drafting with Microstation V8i
- Experience with electrical drawing symbols
- Experience with outdoor substation design

What You'll Be Doing:

- Responsible for supporting substation Project Engineers and producing timely and accurate outdoor drawing packages for complex utility projects & proposals including plan views and elevations, single line diagrams, structural / electrical details, and a detailed bill of material. All work must be done to applicable CAD and engineering standards.
- Develop substation drawings in Microstation using working knowledge of the NEC, NESC and/or customer specifications
- Develop detailed substation layouts / elevations in Microstation
- Generate material take-offs and detailed bills of material for substation power equipment, conduit / trough, and cable trays
- Develop cable / conduit tables from schematics and arrangement drawings
- Complete complex drawing packages with minimal/no supervision from specifications and sketches provided by others
- Follow quality procedures and standard design processes
- Perform thorough review checks of own work and the work of others
- Update engineers and PM with job completion estimates and status

What You Need to Bring to the Table:

- Associates Degree in Drafting and Design Technology (or a minimum of3 years progressive relative work experience)
- Minimum of two to three (2-3) years drafting experience in Microstation V8i (AutoCAD considered)
- Experience in Microstation 3D or equivalent
- Knowledge of electrical drawing symbols and their purpose
- Experience with substation outdoor design
- Ability to read one-line substation drawings

- Team player with creative ideas.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience as a physical designer for a utility or engineering firm
- Prior experience with field installation and construction
- Prior experience with Substation design
- Prior experience with utility substation design standards
- Design experience with civil foundations, steel detailing, and electrical power equipment such as support structures and insulators
- High proficiency with Microstation V8i
- Solid understanding of design drafting practices and engineering systems utilized in the power industry
- Ability to develop Plan View and Elevation drawings
- Demonstrated knowledge of desktop computers and Microsoft Office products
- Demonstrated familiarity with web-based design collaboration sites and drawing management systems
- Ability to work independently and effectively interface with a multi-discipline engineering team and project managers
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills
- Continually strives for a professional product with a quality & process mindset
- Prior experience following quality assurance processes while working in a projects schedule-driven environment
- Customer focused with ability to adapt to various customer standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
