Aerotek is looking for Mortgage Underwriter, this person will be managing the Construction Loan department. They will essentially be overseeing the group that does all loans for Residential New Builds, aka people who are building a new house. They will be overseeing the process that includes contractor and project approval, construction initiation, draw disbursements and conversion to final permanent loan for the servicing. They will manage and control the risks inherent with this process, and make decisions accordingly.
They will also be responsible for some technical aspects of title updates, change orders, analysis of inspection results, compliance with construction loan terms, and the management of borrower and technical construction workouts. They will want them to be the SME for construction projects, cost-to-build, lien laws, compliance, risk, and inspection/draw requirements. They overall need to be very knowledgable in this area.
They will be responsible for overseeing the entire life cycle of the loans, from origination to processing to underwriting to close outs. They will be working with the team along the way to make sure everyone is doing the correct work to match with the build. They will also be making decisions along that process if they need to help with external vendors or even suspend construction due to issues with the mortgage such as default actions.
55% of the time they will be managing the process to make sure loans are rock solid as they are getting approved, 25% working with customers on the front end to make sure this is a worthwhile endeavor, and 20% working with vendors to provide resources
