Logistics Specialist Summary: Assist in the efficient fulfillment and on-time delivery of customer orders. Analyze carrier bids, rates, costs, and tariffs to identify savings or best options. Support the management and reconciliation of finished-good inventories. Support negotiations with vendors, carriers and suppliers, providing information and analyses as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include the following Detailed Work Activities: * Assist in the efficient management of inventories at off-site warehouses. *Develop an understanding of customers' needs, and take actions to ensure that such needs are met. *Enter Customer orders in computer. *Carrier relations, analyze carrier bids, Obtain rates from new carriers. *apply cost benefit analysis techniques. *use computers to enter, access or retrieve data. *Confers with production, sales, shipping, and warehouses to streamline processes. *Assists in the tracking of the on time delivery of orders, and proactively advising customers of delivery delays. *Assists in the handling of shipment problems. (i.e. shortages, missing product, trucking claims, returned product). Tasks include: *Direct availability and allocation of finished products. *Maintain and develop positive business relationships with a customer's key personnel involved in or directly relevant to a logistics activity. *Stay informed of logistics technology advances, and apply appropriate technology in order to improve logistics processes. *Manage the logistical aspects of product life cycles, including coordination or provisioning of samples, and the minimization of obsolescence. A.) from four-year College or university; and a minimum of five years related experience. 3-5 years, experience in a role managing or supporting the management of the logistics and transportation function. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and employees. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel 5% of the time.
