Six Month Temporary Engineer Technician

LOCATION: Vancouver, WA

SALARY: $24.06/hour

JOB DESCRIPTION: A local government agency is seeking an experienced Engineer Technician for a full-time six month temporary position. Primary duties for this position will include: inspecting construction work on complex projects for developing/improving roads, bridges, utilities, drainage structures and traffic control devices; completing daily inspections; responding to inquiries from public regarding projects; performing tests on materials for quality, strength, compaction and other related criteria and standards; collecting and maintaining base data for studies; reading and interpreting plans and specifications to ensure that projects are built to contract standards. Incumbents are required to work both in an office setting and outdoors. Hours for this position are Monday - Friday 7AM - 4PM, and may be required to work overtime including evenings and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates will meet the following criteria:

- An AS in Engineering Technology (or equivalent experience) and 2-3 years of experience in a position equivalent to Assistant Engineering Technician i.e. construction inspection, civil engineering role. A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field may be substituted for the required experience.

- Must have experience in the following areas: construction inspection associated with residential development, road projects, large scale paving operations, water quality enhancement projects and bridge inspection.

- The following skills are preferred: Certified (by appropriate agencies) for density (nuclear) gauge testing, erosion control monitoring (ECS), traffic control, and flagging.

- Must have valid driver's license, proof of auto insurance and a clean driving record.

- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand, walk, bend and stoop for long periods of time.
