We have an immediate opening for a Kitchen Assistant Manager to work closely with our kitchen staff in providing outstanding food to our customers. The Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op, a community-owned natural foods grocery store, is looking for someone with a passion for high-quality organic and natural foods, excellent supervisory skills, with a commitment to provide excellent service to our customers.

We seek applicants with production food service and management experience, who can work as a part of a team.
Minimum 2 years of experience in a fast paced, full service restaurant or production kitchen required.
Must have at least 2 years of experience supervising in a kitchen environment.
Ability to apply basic supervisory skills to plan, organize, direct, coach, train and discipline, as necessary.
Knowledge of natural and organic, vegan and vegetarian foods, helpful.
Must be able to communicate effectively in written and verbal forms in a friendly, professional manner.
Must have computer skills and be able to operate necessary kitchen equipment.
Must be able to lift/move up to 60 pounds

Kitchen Responsibilities
Establish the day's priorities and assign production and preparation tasks for staff to execute.
Maintain product movement through first in, first out rule. (FIFO)
Maintain kitchen equipment to ensure proper functioning.
Perform inventories as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
Monitor and help ensure that department area is kept neat, orderly and clean.
Work closely with the deli department to provide outstanding food and customer service
Maintain a working knowledge of new products within the industry.

Managerial Duties
Help ensure that department staff adhere to scheduled shifts and are ready for work when their shift begins.
Process paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
Train, develop and assist in coaching staff in customer service and work performance.
Model supportive and participatory leadership qualities, promoting team building and motivating staff to achieve departmental goals.

Schedule
Full-time 30-40 hours per week. Schedule will include days, early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Wage to be determined, based on experience.
