About this job
1.* Administers all therapy modalities to patients per physician orders.
2.* Ensures safe and appropriate oxygen administrations through the Oxygen Therapist Driven Protocol.
3.* Able to set up and operate CPAP/BiPAP.
4.* Able to perform non-invasive SpO2 monitoring through pulse oximetry via overnight studies, exercise, continuous
and spot checks.
5.* Performs arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
6.* Initiates, operates and monitors Adult mechanical ventilators.
7.* Responds and participates in all code blue situations.
8.* Adheres to established quality control protocol.
9.* Performs basic operations on the Meditech system.
10.* Performs regular equipment rounds.
11.* Able to assist in bedside therapeutic bronchoscopies.
12. Able to assist with Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
13. Able to precept new employees or staff members entering into a new area of training.
14.* Fulfills staff meeting, inservice, competency and on-going education requirements.
15.* Maintains certificate and license requirements.

EDUCATION:
Required: High School Graduate and Graduate Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
Preferred: High School Graduate and Graduate Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
EXPERIENCE:
Required: One year critical care experience.
Preferred: One year NICU/PICU experience. Knowledge and experience in basic floor care and mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis, pulmonary function testing, bronchoscopy, capnography and oximetry equipment.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Required: Respiratory Therapist I: CRT and Virginia Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner
OR
Student Respiratory Care Practitioner II: eligible for license or currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Program
Current CPR Certification
Preferred: Registry-eligible Respiratory Therapist
Registered Respiratory Therapist
NBRC Perinatal/Pediatric Specialty Exam passed
CPFT
NRP, PALS, or ACLS certificates
