RN Director Critical Care

Work Schedule FT Days

The Clinical Director is responsible for the day-to-day shift operations in assigned areas and manages human resources at the unit level in a cost-effective manner. The critical care Director directs and coordinates the departmental function and plan for the delivery of patient care while containing costs and maintains working conditions which enhance the competence, autonomy and accountability of the employees on the unit. Will ensure adherence to the hospital and departmental business/strategic plans and to nursing procedures, standards and practices are upheld at all times. As a member of the Plaza Medical Center Leadership Team, the critical care Director makes a significant contribution to the public's perception of the hospital through patient care/treatment with consideration of the age/condition of the patient. Employee will recognize the population specific needs of the medical, surgical, and neurological critical care patient and apply the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviors to meet those needs when performing patient care activities.

12. Actively promotes support of and compliance to the hospital safety program by: enforcing safety rules, expectations, and regulatory standards; providing safety education on the department and work process level; identifying and correcting unsafe conditions or staff practices .

Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.

Create or assists with the development and implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization and nursing standards.

Requires understanding of management and delegation principles.

Demonstrates knowledge, ability and judgment necessary to perform within the guidelines of the disease specific care of patients. Functions effectively as an interdisciplinary team member.

Accepts responsibility for assurance that quality patient care is provided consistently according to hospital and departmental standards and policies/procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education and Training Experience Required

Graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.

Must be an expert clinician with critical care practice experience within the last 2-5 years; two years recent experience in supervisory position in a critical care area.

Positive interpersonal skills; leadership ability and skills, proactive problem solving; basic computer skills; excellent critical thinking skills.

Must be a team player and have the ability to function in a fast paced environment.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE: Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

RN with current license to practice in the State of Texas.

BCLS certification.

ACLS certification.

National Nursing Certification ( CCRN, CCRN-E, CNRN, CCNS, CNML , CEN) preferred.
