POSITION PURPOSE -

As you can imagine demand for efficient and cost effective solutions is ever growing, i.e., deliver the right merchandise at right time with the least cost at the right store.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -

• As Software Development Manager this position will be reponsible for our team focused on the My Account / My List portion of homedepot.com
• Manage a team of 40 plus engineers comprised of both full time associates and contractors. Team is geographically distributed in Atlanta, Austin, and Dallas
• Work closely with product managers to align on the product roadmap
• Present project related documents to stakeholders and leadership
• Ensure team is estimating, planning, controlling, and executing projects properly within agreed upon timelines and within budget
• Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with the ability to appropriately prioritize as needed
• Mentor engineers in the team and help grow talent in the team by hiring additional engineers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS -

• Five plus years hands on experience with developing highly scalable, secure, and high performance transactional applications
• Deep technical expertise with Java/J2EE, Spring MVC, RESTful APIs, front end technologies such as Angular.js, Backbone.js, HTML 5, CSS 3 etc.
• Strong experience with software development via Agile SCRUM and XP methodologies
• Proven experience with CI, CD, TDD, toolkits and metrics
• Exposure to SDLC tools such as GIT, Vagrant, Chef/Puppet, Jira, etc.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Savvy manager who can manage really well managing up, down, and sideways
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science & Engineering. Masters Degree is preferred

• Typically, once given general assignments, determines priorities and defines what should be done and how to do it.

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Under constant pressure to continuously meet tight deadlines, demanding quotas and/or must regularly deal with difficult situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -

• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must pass the Drug Test.
• Must successfully complete any required training or orientation courses.

EDUCATION REQUIRED -

The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diplomas and/or GED.

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 8+

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -

Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
