POSITION PURPOSE
The Manager Associate Communications is responsible for creating and delivering engaging and effective communications strategies that inform and educate associates regarding the company and its initiatives, and culture. In addition, they serve as chief editor for associate publications and manage production and distribution for strategic communications, and define and track metrics for success. Also conceptualize, develop and implement an expanded strategic internal communications plan that addresses the needs of all internal constituents through a variety of channels.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- 60% Manage communications content and program for specific functional areas, which may include, but not limited to: CEO communications; internal corporate communications; HR communications; Employee Branding communications; Merchandising communications; Supply Chain Communications; project management of translations.
10% Develop sustained metrics to assess ongoing effectiveness of vehicles
10% Evaluate and assess existing communication vehicles at corporate; identify and explore new and state of the art methods to determine most effective and efficient methods to deliver and reinforce strategic messages at all levels of the Company.
10% Work with the Associate Communications peers and other cross functional partners to determine editorial calendar by audience, date and media, as well as to determine the appropriate communication vehicles
10% Drive corporate messaging to targeted internal audiences through appropriate vehicles
NATURE AND SCOPE
Typically reports to Director of Associate Communications Accountable for the management of a department or functional group through subordinate supervisors/managers and for all personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must pass the Drug Test.
Must pass the Background Check.
Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally
  • Experience in the creation and development web site management and content development a plus.
  • Ability to identify, assess, understand and make appropriate recommendations to meet associate communication needs.
  • Experience creating effective messaging for internal audiences and managing a range of communication media including face-to-face (town halls, executive speeches), print, online, social and multimedia
  • conceptualize, develop and implement an expanded strategic internal communications plan that addresses the needs of all internal constituents through a variety of channels
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES
Extensive experience managing graphic design, print production, distribution and fulfillment
Solid experience writing and editing corporate communications, new journals, marketing materials and/or public relations collateral.
Experience creating detailed specifications, process mapping, information architecture, ability to estimate budgets and write scope documents.
Has demonstrated ability to work independently and lead teams to complete projects and major initiatives.
Familiarity with AP style and Chicago Manual style of knowledge of communication strategy and planning
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
