Job Summary

Uses standard and sometimes unique procedures and techniques to determine, measure, test, and/or analyze materials and substances. Processes incoming shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, including sampling, weighing, review of all associated paperwork, conducting fingerprint analysis and resolving discrepancies with the customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary by location.

Performs visual inspections of incoming waste trucks.

Samples bulk waste loads.

Weighs trucks in and out and keys the information into the computer.

Ensures proper documentation accompanies the waste through the disposal process.

Reviews manifest information for errors.

Identifies waste and paperwork discrepancies and resolves with the customer.

Enforces safety rules and PPE requirements for drivers.

Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis, such as sampling, testing, and measuring, using electronic equipment.

Assists in the functioning of the laboratory by:

Maintaining and replenishing laboratory supplies of stock solutions, glassware, and general laboratory equipment;

Installing and setting up of instruments and equipment;

Making periodic inspections of equipment and performing routine preventive maintenance work.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

Required: High school diploma or G.E.D, and zero to four years previous experience.

Preferred: High school diploma or G.E.D, plus additional or specialized training, and zero to four years previous experience.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

None required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

None required.
