The Provider Service Representative (PSR) is the initial point of contact for physicians, provider staff and insurance companies. The incumbent must possess exceptional public relations/customer service skills and be able to communicate with physicians and other clinical representatives in an effective manner. Primary responsibilities are to identify the needs of the caller and to provide status of claims, authorizations and eligibility, assist in resolving issues related to these and to provide assistance with general questions. The PSR is responsible for receiving and resolving incoming calls in a manner reflecting the Mission, Values, and Customer Service philosophy of Sutter Physician Services.

The ideal candidate for this role is one who enjoys a fast-paced, team-oriented, and goal driven work environment. You must be a strong communicator, respectful and professional in your telephone demeanor, and be an attentive listener in order to resolve customer issues effectively and efficiently.

High School diploma or equivalent

At least 1 year of customer service experience

Preferred experience/skills:

Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's degree in Communication, Business, Healthcare Administration, or liberal arts OR equivalent work combination of coursework and experience in a service industry highly desired.

Technical Certificate in medical billing/coding, Medical Assisting, and/or medical terminology.

Multiple years of customer service experience in a medical specialty practice or other healthcare related occupation with transferable skills.
