About this job

Responsibilities* Provide direct patient care to multiple pediatric and adult populations (ICU, general care, and OP). Maintain airway, vital signs, monitoring EKG, arterial lines, pain management (epidural and PCA's).

Provide patient/family education.

Provide patient and family centered care.

Collaborate with all members of the health care team to meet the complex care requirements and management of pediatric and adult populations.

Candidate must be highly motivated to provide excellent care and patient advocacy.

Care is inclusive of entire perioperative experience (pre-operative and post-op care, including discharge and phone triage).

Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.

Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level E.

Required Qualifications* Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.

1 year moderate care/Telemetry patient care and 2 years of adult and peds PACU within the last 3 years

PALS and ACLS certification.

Experience with airway management.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to direct nursing practice and apply nursing judgment to a variety of situations.

Critical thinking skills.

Excellent time management skills.

Desired Qualifications* Recent medical surgical background and/or surgical observation unit experience.

Experience with pain management, sedation/analgesia and experience in a monitored care setting.

Ability to interact effectively with the interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment.

CPAN certified

CAPA certified

Knowledge of patient and family centered care philosophy.

Experience with patient and family education.

Computer knowledge related to Microsoft Office, etc.

Evidence of continuous professional development activities.

Knowledge of the University of Michigan Health System nursing policies and practice.
