Enterprise Risk Financing & Insurance is responsible for collaborating with internal operations and external vendors to minimize UnitedHealth Group's risk through strategic risk financing and insurance programs. This position will be responsible for participation in the insurance placements, documentation, coverage and contract questions, captive insurance company management, medical malpractice management and selected claim reporting activities.

 

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Participate with management, brokers and insurers in negotiating property, casualty and financial lines insurance coverages, cost-effectively
  • Review insurance policies and actively follow-up for corrections, as needed
  • Oversee selected claims and insurer reporting as required by insurance policies
  • Collaborate with internal business operations to evaluate and maintain accurate and detailed exposure, data and other relevant information
  • Provide guidance to businesses on vendor and other third party risks
  • Manage actuarial analyses that support various insurance and financial processes
  • Review contracts and leases and provide consultation on language

Requirements

Required Qualifications:


  • 10+ years of commercial insurance or corporate insurance risk management experience including experience in negotiating and/or managing complex commercial insurance programs
  • Broad knowledge of corporate insurance coverages and policy forms, including contract and insurance policy language negotiation
  • Ability to generate, pursue and operationalize ideas and processes
  • Project management and internal consulting skills desired with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple relationships
  • MS Excel skills at the intermediate to advanced level Strong MS Office skills

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree desired
  • Experience with captive insurance companies desired
  • Experience with medical malpractice/professional liability coverage desired
