We have a full-time/part-time opening for a Linux Administrator / UNIX Administrator.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

UNIX Administrator / Linux Administrator

In this Linux Administrator position, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting edge software development and big data technologies at global organization. You will be responsible for the UNIX/Linux architecture design and documentation ensuring designs adhere to industry best practices. As a Linux Administrator you may also:

  • Plan and execute projects of all sizes
  • Configure and install new servers, devices, and peripherals
  • Provide technical support of SAN and NAS storage systems
  • Create and maintain the operation procedures for SAN and NAS storage systems and DBA
  • Install software, apply patches, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools
  • Adhere to change management policy to ensure timely notification, testing and approval for all system related changes that impact the environment
  • Partner with Service Desk and other support areas, to handle escalated calls and to also provide training for tasks that may be appropriately handled by other support groups
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures for systems
  • Ensure system availability and minimal downtime to improve satisfaction to our business
  • System failure analysis and recovery; insuring the consistency and integrity of file systems

Are you interested? The ideal Linux Administrator will possess the following experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of UNIX / Linux (preferably Oracle Linux), Apache and SAN
  • Experience with sever clustering and high availability solutions, especially Oracle VM and VMWare.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with rack/stack and break/fix of servers and storage
  • Experience with 24 x 7 support including rotating on-call
  • 5 yrs professional systems maintenance experience in a data center environment
  • Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments.
  • In-depth hardware configuration knowledge
  • Shell programming expertise
  • Network experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Oracle Linux Systems Administrator Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of Oracle eBusiness Suite preferred.
