SUMMARY The primary responsibility of the Server is to provide friendly, excellent service to every guest whom enters the restaurant. Serve food courses and alcoholic beverages to guests. Set tables according to type of event and service standards. Answer questions on menu selections. Communicate with the kitchen regarding menu questions, the length of wait, recook orders, and product availability. Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen. Record transaction in MICROS system at time of order. Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and/or beverages. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day. Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc. Present physical and accurate check to guest and process payment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Greets and welcomes all guests in a pleasant and professional manner following Forty North Restaurant Group hospitality and service standards.
  • Assists customers in ordering from the menu and records ordered items on check according to procedures.
  • Obtains food and beverage from prescribed locations and serves guests according to procedures.
  • Observes guests to fulfill and additional requests and to note when meal is finished.
  • Processes checks through MICROS/POS and presents check to guest for payment on conclusion of dining experience.
  • Assists, as necessary, in cleaning and re-setting tables, escorting guests from waiting area to table in his/her assigned section.
  • Assists Bussers in a cooperative manner to ensure efficient service to guests.
  • Completes assigned side work as directed.
  • Familiarizes self with all items on both printed and daily menus.
  • Uses knowledgeable salesmanship for suggestive selling of menu items, beverages, desserts, etc.
  • Processes all open checks and ensures they are properly tendered and/or accounted for at end of shift.
  • Familiarizes self and adheres to the principles of guest service skills, and uses them in all interactions.
  • Delivers alcoholic beverages promptly from assigned bar to table.
  • Adheres to all regulatory, restaurant and local / state policies and procedures
  • Anticipate and execute excellent guest service through up-beat positive attentiveness
  • Ability to multi-task high volume activity, payment transactions, cash and credit card carry as payment and/or comps
  • Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to company policies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong passion for customer service is required. High School degree or equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Must be able to initiate and engage in conversation in a professional and friendly manner. Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills. Must present a professional and pleasant appearance that guests will find appealing and approachable in order to engage in conversation. Must be able to work any day of the week, any shift. Must be able to get along well with co-workers and work as a team. Must be willing to participate in on-going training in the beverage field. Must have knowledge of current property events, promotions and attractions.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to work in a noisy environment and maneuver through assigned area during entire shift. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to converse over the telephone in an environment with loud background noise. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stoop, bend and reach. Able to use hand motion when cleaning and wiping tables. Able to bend, pull and carry bar stock to refrigerators and cabinets. Responds to visual and aural cues. Able to complete required paperwork for cash transactions. Able to operate a variety of equipment. Must be able to simultaneously handle the demands of many customers. Must present a pleasant and professional appearance that customers will find appealing and easy to approach in order to initiate and engage in conversation. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, crouch, kneel, push and pull. Shifts may vary based on business needs.
