Position Description

Analyzes, implements, troubleshoots, and tunes complex operating system software and associated utilities to support PPG Corporate and SBU applications worldwide. Works effectively with cross-function teams of IT professionals to help develop, implement, and troubleshoot these systems. Uses various system support tools and performance and monitoring tools, including monitoring software, native to the operating system. Assists in testing and implementing Operating system software, prepares documentation, and leads the most complex projects. Plans, estimates, and monitors project timelines. Works with minimal guidance and direction from project leaders to ensure availability of critical operating systems.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum 2-year degree in a computer-related field
  • Requires 3 years experience in RHEL operating systems implementation and support

Preferred Qualifications
  • Dell Hardware familiarity

  • Shell scripting preferred

  • High availability & Storage experience

  • Redhat Cluster experience

  • Understanding of DR

  • Understanding of Oracle


Skills
  • Effective time/project management skills
