The Credit Capital, Allowance, and Stress Testing Team (CCAST) is a unit within Corporate Credit and is responsible for (i) oversight, modeling and estimation of risk weighted assets (RWA) in compliance with BASEL regulations, (ii) consolidation coordination, documentation and oversight of the Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) and related external disclosures; (iii) coordination, oversight documentation modeling, and submission for the credit section of the Corporate Stress Testing exercises in compliance with Dodd Frank and the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Reporting exercises (CCAR). The team engages with team members throughout the bank to support the $800 B loan portfolio including the lines of business senior credit officers, model governance, Controllers and External Reporting, and Treasury. The team is also responsible for maintaining strong relationships with regulators, external auditors and other examiners. Corporate Credit Consumer Regulatory Capital Oversight (CRCO) is responsible for Retail portfolio regulatory capital oversight within CCAST.

CRCO has an exciting opportunity for a Retail Basel Qualification Analyst. We seek an individual to develop and oversee a process to assess the bank’s compliance with the Basel regulatory capital rules for retail credit exposures. This highly visible position will work with others in our department, other corporate oversight areas, and the lines of business (LOBs) to ensure that evidence is available to demonstrate compliance.

Duties include:

Develop subject matter expertise for credit risk on regulatory capital rules, capital calculations, reporting, etc. Oversee the annual update of Wells Fargo’s Compliance Rationale Documents (CRDs) for Retail, which present the evidence and justification for determining that the company is complying with those parts of the capital rule related to retail credit exposures. Lead work to develop a compliance framework to be used by partners responsible for various components of the bank’s systems that manage credit risk and/or create or manipulate data or deliver data to those who calculate required capital or report on it under the Basel rules. This framework should provide the evidence needed to demonstrate that the bank is compliant with the Basel rules or point to gaps in compliance that need to be addressed. Responsible for creating and maintaining standards to ensure consistency and approach for compliance with the regulatory capital rules for portfolios receiving Retail Basel treatment

This position is part of a high functioning, high profile team and requires the presence and professional demeanor necessary to interact effectively with team members across LOBs, Risk, and Finance, as well as with Audit, Regulators and Senior Management. The successful candidate will become a Basel subject matter expert for retail exposures.

Preferred locations are Charlotte, Minneapolis, Des Moines, San Francisco but consideration will be given to qualified candidates in other locations

7+ years risk reporting and/or analytics experience, 3+ years leadership experience.

3+ years working with regulatory capital rules, SEC reporting, and/or other regulation requiring compliance activities 3+ years’ experience in managing or monitoring controls and creating and maintaining documentation 3+ years’ experience interacting with regulators or auditors (internal or external) Demonstrated experience developing strong working relationships within a group and with other business partners, including experience working on cross-organizational initiatives and influencing change Exceptional ability to communicate professionally and with confidence across various levels within the organization, both verbally and in writing Execution orientation, professional demeanor, initiative and ability to recognize opportunities for improvement and act on them Proven ability to multi-task Strong organizational, documentation and communication skills Proven ability to think strategically and understand the business Excellent judgment and decision making plus strong people skills Demonstrated experience working in an environment with tight timelines that also require a high level of accuracy and quality within the work being performed Solid understanding of retail credit products and processes, loan accounting systems and credit data warehouses
