Nurse Practitioner-Physician Assistant - Full-time / Part-time

To provide direct care to patients

Essential Functions:

Conducts telephone call backs to patients requiring follow-up care.

Evaluates emergency situations & initiates appropriate interventions.

Examines & treats patients, orders & interprets diagnostic tests, makes diagnosis, develops plan of care. Triages patients in person or via telephone & implements proper course of action.

Health teaching & health counseling to patients & their families.

Collaborates & works effectively w/all members of the care team.

Maintains clinical competence by attending staff development programs, maintains. professional cert.

Builds rapport, develops & sustains cooperative relationships with members making members & their needs a primary focus.

Considers how actions/plans will affect members; responds quickly to meet member/patient needs & resolves problems

Actively seeks information to understand member/patient circumstances, problems, expectations, & needs

Participates in the peer review of your own professional qual & your colleagues.

APN/PA specializing in surgery: provide preop & postop care as first or second assistants during surgery

Patient Advocate

Participates & cooperates with colleagues both other APN's, PA's & Physicians in evaluating professional quals

NP

Evaluating health status through the collection & assessment of health data CRS 12-38-103 (10). Practices w/in scope of practice perimeters as inferred by licensure, st&ard nursing practice, knowledge, skill level, sound clinical judgment, & KP guidelines.

Accurately documents patient data, actions or interventions, responses, & plans for care/follow-up according to guidelines &/or st&ard nursing practice.

Provides therapy & treatment to members directly/ or indirectly through consultation with, delegation to (per Colorado SBON rules & regulations for delegation), supervision of, or teaching others.

Refers to medical or community agencies per KP guidelines those patients who need further treatment, evaluation, or assistance.

Collaborates with articulated plan physician, & follows Health Plan policy around annual chart review & discussion between APN & physician

PA

Provide medical care under the supervision of physicians & in accordance with PA's education, training, & certification, w/in delegated guidelines, established practices & procedures or specific instructions.

Compliance w/Rule 400 of the Colorado Medical Board.

Maintains ongoing supervisory physician agreement

Makes telephone evaluations as indicated, as well as giving medical advice & information to patients by telephone where appropriate

Collaborates w/the physician & other clinical staff members as needed

Refers patients to supervising physician or/with physician agreement, to other health professionals as appropriate

Basic Qualifications:

BLS required within 90 days of employment and must be maintained as current.

National Provider Identifier (NPI) and Taxonomy code required at time of hire.

DEA Registration (or actively working to obtain this registration if new graduate)

For positions requiring the administration of procedural sedation, ACLS certification and procedural sedation competency required within 90 days of hire.

Must obtain and maintain credentialing and/or privileges both internally and externally by the affiliated hospital. Ongoing credentialing required.

Nurse Practitioner

Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado. Listed on the Advanced Practice Registry and is in compliance with those requirements. Must be a graduate of a RN program that meets Colorado State Board of Nursing curriculum requirements.

Masters Degree in Nursing

Graduation from a NLN accredited Nurse Practitioner program

Prescriptive authority required or in progress. Must be obtained within 2 years of hire date if a newer graduate

For positions in Pediatrics or a position as family nurse practitioner in a pediatric setting, education and certification required for. Pediatric nurse practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner for a Pediatric setting,

Physician Assistant

Bachelor's degree required. Graduation from an program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

Current & on-going certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Preferred 1-2 years dedicated Pediatric experience. Preferred proficiency in well child care, pediactric acute care and pediatric trauma procedures, such as suturing, splinting and toenail removal.
