IT Program Engagement Director (Optum Technology Delivery) - Full-time / Part-time

As a Program Engagement Director within our Optum Technology Government Solution's commercial business, you will be responsible for leadership, delivery, and oversight of Optum's engagements serving U.S. State government clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as the single point of leadership for Optum Technology Government Solutions engagements with State Health & Human Services clients


• Engaging with client leadership to ensure proper expectation setting


• Owning, end-to-end accountability for program delivery


• Drive engagements/programs to successful completion


• Driving consensus and decision-making with business, IT and executive management


• Influencing senior leaders to balance competing priorities


• Partnering with stakeholders (internal and external to Optum) to ensure proper strategy, plan, alignment, integration and visibility


• Leading matrixed teams to common solutions


• Maintaining visibility on day-to-day activities with project teams AND ensuring sufficient face-time with key executive stakeholders


• Providing status reporting to internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis


• Managing program financials


• Mitigating risks and addressing program/project obstacles as needed


• Leading, coaching, managing and mentoring program and project managers


• Engaging in RFP responses and SOW activities

Required Qualifications:  

• 15 + years of program management experience


• 5 + years leading multi-million dollar technology program portfolios 


• Experience leading a program portfolio of $20M +


• Proven track record of leading enterprise scale, complex technology programs successfully


• Previous people leadership and management skills, including direct experience leading, managing and mentoring teams of project and program managers


• Successful track record of delivering programs on scope, on time, on budget, on quality and on benefit


• Demonstrated ability to manage the details of programs / projects in order to drive them to fruition, if required


• Excellent communication, collaboration, team building and relationship management skills


• Ability to communicate technology matters to business partners, senior executives, and strategic partners


• Proven experience interfacing in the cSuite of large organizations


• Successful in obtaining results in a large corporate, matrixed environment


• Capable of gaining support for initiatives through influence and use of business rationale


• Proven ability to make and implement tough decisions


• Willingness and ability to travel up to 100% of the time if required


• Prior experience serving as a consultant to government clients 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior success leading programs / portfolios of $50M 
  
• Experiences leading programs in the healthcare domain


• Prior experience working for a top-tier professional services consulting firm 


• Relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experiences; advanced degree
