The senior technical architect will have responsibility for architectural oversight for multiple salesforce.com instances within PayPal.*Leads the creation of large-scale architecture for a product or major product sub-system or across multiple PayPal systems.*Designs and oversees solutions for specific use cases that provide frameworks, interfaces, and services that can be extended and reused for future requirements.*Develops and communicates technical processes, standards and best practices within a product team.*Creates architecture consistent with enterprise architecture standards, guidelines and principles and works with engineering to ensure that implementations are consistent with the spirit of these principles.*Understands the broader business context around their area. Contributes to technology direction, develops architecture and influences implementation to gain measurable business improvements.*Recognized as the go-to architect for a product or major sub-system and is seen as a leader in their specialized field.*Frequently interfaces with other functional teams' leadership*Highly visible across major engineering organizations, and regularly visible through external forums such as conferences, workshops, or open source initiatives.*Works well within a team, and contributes effectively to the success of the team and related teams.*Strategic Architecture oversight of all major projects on the Force.com platform*Lead design, planning and execution for all major Force.com projects within OCIO e.g. separation, Braintree Integration, BU Migrations, Role Hierarchy etc.*Lead design of key support processes - release management, system admin on demand, project board Job Requirements Education
*B.S. Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS or equivalent
Experience
*Strong proficiency in SFDC (Salesforce.com) architecture, Apex , Visual Force, Triggers, Classes, salesforce web services
*A good understanding of the architectural principals of web based platforms including SaaS, multi-tenancy, multi-tiered infrastructure and application servers.
*A good understanding of the security processes, standards & issues involved in multi-tier, multi-tenant web applications.
*Strong experience of enterprise application integration, including SOA, ESB, EAI, ETL environments and an understanding of integration considerations such as process orchestration, customer data integration and master data management.
*Proficient with server side web development design languages, scripting tools and protocols such as HTML, XML, JavaScript, HTTP, CSS, XSLT, AJAX, JQuery
*Proficient developing SQL and experience with a RDBMS such as MySQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server
*Experience with at least 2 client side programming languages such as .NET, JAVA, PHP, Ruby, C#, C++, Visual Basic, Python
*Familiarity with SOAP and REST API
*Minimum 5 years Salesforce technical experience in a senior hands-on role
*Proven ability to lead complex architectural discussions with personnel from all levels of a global organization.
*Minimum of SFDC Dev 401 Certified is required. Technical Architect certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
*Ability to undertake development and support if needed
*Liaise with OCIO architecture team for platform knowledge sharing and identify use case opportunity
*Correctly estimates software schedules, and delivers products on time and to requirements without quality issues.
*Can triage and resolve site issues without supervision.
*Able to evangelize innovations, through prototyping or other means.
*Identifies opportunities for engineering productivity improvements or directions, and evangelizes these successfully.
*Influences VP's on product direction and is frequently consulted by Directors throughout their VP's organization.
*Provides leadership to others, particularly junior engineers who work on the same team or related features or product sub-systems.
*Leads product design and code reviews; can competently review any aspect of their product or major sub-system.
*Leads and collaborates on solutions across teams within a business unit.
Education Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
