Dover Behavioral Health System is a private psychiatric facility providing behavioral health care services to adults and adolescents. DBHS is located in a beautiful campus setting east of Dover, DE offering inpatient and partial hospitalization for adolescents and adults. Treatment includes comprehensive individual assessment psychiatric evaluations and medication stabilization physical exam and follow up dual diagnosis programming and many other services which guide the patient to a healthy lifestyle.

Nurse Practitioner provides direct care to patients under the direction of the patient's attending Psychiatrist. The NP provides care specific to the age population served. These activities are limited to those in compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act and facility policies and procedures.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities

. Under the direction of attending physician/psychiatrist, NP will assess the health and/or mental health status of individuals and families by obtaining health, psychiatric and medical histories, diagnosing health and development problems, admitting patients for inpatient and partial hospitalization level of care.

. Prescribes medications as necessary.

. Participates in the on-call rotation.

. Completes and dictates initial psychiatric evaluations.

. Orders medical follow-up care as necessary.

. Completes and dictates all necessary discharge forms including discharge summary.

. Provides daily psychiatric care for patients suffering from mental health or acute diseases by managing therapeutic regimens according to the relevant policies and procedures of Dover Behavioral Health System.

. NP's written orders of discharge from inpatient or partial hospitalization must be approved and counter-signed by the attending psychiatrist.

. Initial Psychiatric Assessments must be counter-signed by the attending psychiatrist.

. Initiates emergency measures according to age appropriate CPR and client resuscitation protocols.

. Participates in emergency crisis interventions according to age appropriate techniques.

. Maintains confidentiality related to patient, family, client facility and staff in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

. Provides patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.

. Maintains competency by participating in continuing education programs and meets state specific requirements.

. Complies with accepted ethical conduct and professional Standards of Nursing Practice as set forth by the American Nurses Association or equivalent national organization.

. Participates in the Customer Service Program promoting respect and professional interaction with patients, families, and peers.

. Participate in hospital emergency codes necessary to the unit's and the hospital's safe operation.

. Will adhere to all safety policies and safe work practice.

. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Graduate of an approved School of Nurse Practitioner.

Licensure: Current and unrestricted license as an NP in the State of Delaware .
