Position Summary: The RNFA is responsible for the safety of the patients while under going surgical procedures, assists with the supervision of non-professional personnel, anticipating the needs of the surgical team and provides such services while maintaining an aseptic and safe environment. The RNFA is a specialty trained individual who participates and actively assist the surgeon in the performance of the surgical procedure. The RNFA will be granted privileges to first and second assist in all surgical specialities according to the level of their traning and abilities and functions under the supervision of the attending surgeon. The type of surgical assistance needed is determined by the attending surgeon.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Gradate of a formal RNFA Certificate or Degree program that is accepted by the CBPN. Endovascular Vein Harvesting training and experience. Cardiovascular training and experience. Three (3) letters of Recommendation from surgeons who have had recent opportunity to observe the professional and personal behavior of the employee. Over two (2) years of scrub or first assisting experience in the OR. Current RN licensure in the State of Texas. Current CPR certification. ACLS certification within 30 days of employment. Certified Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) Must be able to identify and competently address needs of populations served and serves as a patient advocate. Must be able to take call. Moderate computer skills.
